ADVOCATES, the political arm of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region is a separate, not-for-profit organization.

Established in 1996, ADVOCATES engages in education, lobbying and bi-partisan electoral work such as: lobbying elected officials in Jefferson City and in-district, candidate recruitment and message training, get-out-the-vote activities, and voter education.

The Missouri legislative session ended with on Friday, May 16 at 6:01 p.m. without passing any anti-choice, anti-family planning or anti-sex education bill - the first time in the past six years!!

But they did allow Missouri's extensive informed consent process for women making a decision about abortion to stand. This session politicians spent too much time talking about abortion, rather than what they can do to help prevent unintended pregnancies or improve women's health.

Help us make Prevention First a priority for Missouri legislatures in the next session that starts January 2009!
